Returning along the same road I made it 50km past Bouarfa, heading west, before pulling off the road and camping up amongst some low sand dunes for the night. I spent about 3/4 of my time in Morocco free camping like this and never had any problems. It wasn't unusual to woken up very early by some curious goat herders, but they were always friendly enough and made for some interesting breakfast attempts at conversation.

It was very early November at this stage, during the muslim holy month of ramadan, so the sun would set by 5:20pm and camping by yourself in the desert often meant very early nights. I used blackout blind martial to cover over all of my windows so at least I could lie in bed with the lights on reading.

how many bloody sunset pic's can you have...?

The nights are always bitterly cold in most of southern Morocco so despite having an abundance of sleep, I often rose late, giving the day a chance to warm up. Not a bad lifestyle. It's commonly said that Morocco is a cold country with a warm sun. It's worth remembering this if your coming.
