Marrakech and a quick trip back to London...

It was nice to visit Marrakech again having previously been here a few years ago. Jo and Muna found a hotel in town but I was stuck 13km out of town in the only campsite in the area which made transport in and out difficult.

We spent a few days together checking out the sites and most importently, for Muna anyway, eating loads of glorious food - it was the end of Ramadan at last! This wasn't such a big issue for me with the landy as I was able to carry loads of food but for backpackers Ramadan can be frustrating when you have the munchies or need a good coffee.

As I had to pop back to London urgently quite a lot of effort was put into seeing if it was possible to leave the landy in Morocco whilst I pop out and back into the country. It is possible and is quite easy when you know how...

Tip: You need to organize this with Customs in the city that you wish to fly out from. Go to the airport and ask there as it will be confusing trying to find the correct customs building in town. You simply leave the keys (leave a bunch that don't actually open the doors or turn over the engine and disable the engine) and registration papers with them, leave the vehicle in the airport car park and they will issue you with a receipt. Hand this back in when you fly back in and they will release your vehicle. I had to pop back to London for a few days and this system worked well except that somebody stole fuel out of my fuel tank via the sedimentor!.
