Tafroute is located in one of the most striking locations in Morocco. It's a lovely place to hang out, with excellent walking in the surrounding hills and valleys allowing for days of healthy exercise! Something much needed if you've been hammering hard on the sweet Moroccan tea.

Another of the attractions are the kinda famous 'painted rocks' or 'blue rocks' as they are sometimes known.

In 1984 a Belgian bloke called Jean Verame turned up with a load of local firemen, 20 tonnes of paint and an idea to paint a bunch of rocks blue, black and red.

He did it, they are still there, albiet faded, and it's a quirky little place to hang out, surprisely quiet when I was there. I spent about 5 days hanging out reading books in my hammock or wondering around in the smooth rocky hills.
